Benefits of Sound Therapy
To understand the benefits of Sound Therapy we need to dig a bit deeper into one of the biggest negative factors for our mental and physical health which is stress.
Chronic Stress as well as suppressed emotions related to the past traumas and abuse are underlying cause of most physical as well as mental disorders.
You would probably ask yourself a question how does sound healing help with that ?
Let me explain ...
Stress
It is well documented in many studies that the main factors linked to 80% of serious physical and mental health challenges are chronic stress and suppressed emotions associated
with past trauma.
Research by Perkins (1994) cited in the Harvard Business Review showed that 60% to 90% of doctor visits were stress-related.
Sonic waves and Vibration
* Sonic waves and vibration can penetrate down to the cellular level to reset cells to their natural patterns allowing them to calm inflammation and relieve pain
* Relaxes Nerve Plexus, muscles and tissues promotes blood and lymph circulation.
* Balances autonomic nervous system, calming stress and revitalizing fatigue
* Calms traumatized cells allowing body to accelerate it´s natural healing abilities and boost recovery
* Transforming beliefs, which are mainly sub-conscious, and can have a powerful effect not only on emotions and the physical state but right down to cellular level and DNA

How Sound Healing Works
* Sympathetic resonance: Using the sound and vibration of the instruments allows an area of imbalance to be brought back into balance, a vibration that matches the original frequency. Through the projection of a sound tool's pure, vibrational sounds, the waves go to the area of imbalance, the weak or dissonant frequency is transformed, and optimal resonance is restored.
* Balancing left/right brain hemispheres
* Brainwave entrainment: Entrainment is the predisposition that two oscillating bodies have tendency to vibrate in harmony with one another. Entrainment occurs when two or more rhythmic cycles become synchronised.
* Relaxation response to alleviate symptoms of chronic stress
* Releasing suppressed emotions connected to the trauma from the past

Polyvagal Theory
Polyvagal Theory was developed by Dr Stephen Porges PhD, a research scientist, in the early 1990s.
His Polyvagal framework is now increasingly used by medical doctors, psychiatrists and psychotherapists.
Polyvagal Theory is a new view of the Autonomic Nervous System ( ANS )
ANS is our body's primary control centre. It controls and regulates all vital functions, including heart rate, blood pressure, respiratory rate, and other body system functions.
Many diseases, including chronic diseases of mental and physical health, are diseases of the ANS.
When we experience chronic stress or trauma , our body can become stuck in the fight or flight mode. This constant state of alertness can be exhausting to our body and detrimental to our overall health.
Sound therapy, by interacting with the vagus nerve, offers us different solution. The vibration of the instruments can coax the nervous system back to a state of balance, promoting relaxation, healing, and well-being.
Understanding the polyvagal theory and the role of the vagus nerve provides a scientific foundation for the power of sound therapy.
